The consuls were the commander and chief during war. They were supreme judges when needed. They had veto power over each other. The two consuls presided over senate and they stayed in office for one year. They were commander and chief of the army. They could veto laws and be a judge if needed. The senators held office for life. There was only a new senator when one died. They were foreign and military maters. The ten tribunes had veto power and protected the Plebeians rights. The Romans had a written set of laws called the twelve tables. Slaves, woman, and foreigners didn't have much say in anything.
